Laser & IPL Training Courses - Treating Blood Vessels

Blood Vessels – Spider veins, Thread veins, Leg veins, port wine stains etc

Lasers have been used to successfully treat blood vessels since the early 1980s when the pulsed dye laser appeared on the market. Since then a host of lasers and IPLs have been advocated for this technique – some good, some bad.

This course will discuss the following:

Basic biology of blood vessel problems

How light can be used to tackle such problems

Basic light-tissue interactions – how to heat vessels efficiently

How to assess a blood vessel problem

How does the colour affect treatment?

How to set the ‘best' parameters to treat your client

The importance of time

Follow up recommendations

Treating blood vessels successfully is particularly tricky. I have been doing this since 1986 when I joined the laser research program in Canniesburn Hospital . Since that time I have spent a lot of time researching this field, both practically and theoretically.

Consequently I have an in-depth understanding of the practical difficulties in assessing and treating such problems.

By the end of this course you will be able to properly assess vascular conditions, decided whether you are able to successfully treat them, choose the best set of parameters for treatment and properly counsel your client post-treatment.

In this course we will also advise you on the best system for your requirements, plus how to ensure your system operates at full potential (in terms of energy/fluence output and skin cooling).
